Hello!
My name is Amanda, I grew up on the TN/KY state line. Spending most of my childhood at my Grandparents farm in KY, but I lived and went to school in TN. I loved everything farm from the moment I was old enough to work with Grandpa. I am probably the only kid that being grounded meant I couldn't do chores.
My Grandpa was always outside working on something and I was right beside him. My love and joy in working outside, gardening, and animals definitely came from him. Once you start raising your own food and you start seeing the differences in commercial vs. home grown vegetables, eggs, and meat; That will start to spiral into seeing the difference in everything. All the unnecessary preservatives, chemicals, and GMO that cause more harm than good.
I work a full time job with goals to work full time from the farm. I am truly passionate about this business and everything it stands for. I trust God to equip me with all that I need, and He has provided every day. My favorite bible verses are Psalms 27:1-14 . The last couple verses read "I am certain that I will see the Lord's goodness in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and courageous. Wait for the Lord."
My Story
How did I get where I am? And why the name Simply Set Apart soap & stock?
For a very long story short... I always knew I wanted to start a small business, though I never quite knew what it would be. For a long time, I imagined it would come later in life, maybe after I had kids, so I could homeschool them and still be supportive of my family.
But God had a different plan.
If it weren’t for an unexpected turn that completely realigned my relationship with Him a couple years ago, I wouldn’t be here today, sharing Simply Set Apart with you. This business has never been about my timing, but His.
I've done things a bit backwards of course. Most people come up with a business idea first and then create a name. For me, the name came first. While house-sitting and reading my Bible, God placed “Simply Set Apart” on my heart. At that moment I had no idea what I was even gonna make. But after a few days, I thought it was just going to make goat milk soaps and goat milk products.
In June 2024, I tried changing the name, but nothing else felt right. God had spoken, even though I couldn’t see the full picture yet, I knew He knew best.
Over time, He showed me where He was really leading. After many changes and closed doors, I was drawn toward sheep and, eventually, sheep milk soap. It wasn’t easy finding dairy sheep, but when the right ones came along, I knew it was God’s provision.
Their milk has incredible benefits for the skin, creating a soap that is nourishing, gentle, and unlike anything else. But even more than that, tending sheep has brought scripture to life for me... verses about shepherds and flocks hold new meaning when you live them every day. Sheep are definitely a whole new ball game from goats!
Now I can see why He gave me this name. Simply Set Apart reflects not only the products I create with God-given ingredients, but also the deeper truth: we are sheep set apart in His flock. What began as an idea for natural soaps has grown into a calling, and today, I stand in a new version of Simply Set Apart, one I never could have imagined for myself, but that God knew all along.
I encourage you today when God lays something on your heart, go for it! If you miss step He will redirect, but if you don't move you will get stagnate. When God lays something on your heart its not just for you, it's also for the people you are meant to serve through your calling.
